- Safety
  • Masks must be worn on land and in boatyard / boathouse! (Masks required NOT bandannas or neck gaiters)
            * * Researchers from Duke University tested various mask options (study published Aug.7) and least effective / worst
mask types were Knitted and/or Bandana & Gaiter style masks.

  • Hand Gel Sanitizer provided by Crew - Rowers will sanitize hands on arrival to boathouse & after rowing
  • Sanitizing wipes/spray provided by Crew - Rowers will wipe down/sanitize oars & high touch areas
  • COVID-19 Symptoms Form signed by Rowers prior to practice (For safety & contact tracing)
  • Swim / Tread Water Test - For new rowers we need to ensure they can swim / tread water & are comfortable in water, therefore passing a swim/tread water test is required.
         > Crew will schedule a swim/tread water test for new rowers within first week or so of practice.
         > Coach Mike will update as soon as date/time are set for test & we'll upload to website.

- Rowing
  • The plan is to use single shells primarily unless there are siblings who want to row in a double or parents approve their child rowing in a double with a specific / exclusive partner for duration of season.
  • Team practices will be separated Novice & Varsity groups rowing distinct days as we have limited # single shells and trying to limit total # kids/rowers at boathouse per day to facilitate safety!
  • Due to COVID-19, US Rowing has cancelled formal races & for safety we will NOT be traveling nor racing in MA/New England rowing events. We will be facilitating inter-squad,virtual & local races at end of season!

Registration FAQ's:
  • If there are no changes, why do we have to fill out new forms for each season?
The Central Crew Coaches & Board can't track whether there's been changes in contact info, medications/allergies, etc. so it's just easier if we source new sets of the Registration Forms for each season. Plus this is a requirement for MSD and insurance purposes.

  • Why a Swim Test?
ALL new Novice or transfer athletes are required to provide documented proof of swim test / water tread proficiency or take the Central Crew swim test administered by a certified swim instructor/life guard by Central Crew. Central Crew will organize & facilitate a swim test as needed with a certified lifeguard/swim instructor. this is critical for safety and liability purposes.

  • Payment Options?
We prefer checks, as we don't need to pay any fees.
Checks should be made out to Central Crew Club & please note season and rower name(s) on checks for tracking purposes.

We can take credit cards if absolutely necessary, but we pay a user fee and % purchase charge!

  • Scholarship?
Central Crew does have limited scholarships and payment plan options based on club funds available. A 3-person Board Scholarship Committee confidentially reviews requests and determines scholarship grants/payment plans on a case-by-case basis.
(Download Scholarship request form below and email to our Registrar)

  • Why US Rowing Membership?
US Rowing is a nonprofit membership organization recognized by the US Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. With more than 1,350 rowing organizations and 83,000 individual members, US Rowing serves and promotes the sport on all levels of competition. Basic Membership is free, US rowing charges a $9.75 Admin. Fee annually. Basic Membership allows athletes to compete in US Rowing sanctioned regattas only and includes general liability only insurance coverage

  • I see there's a $45 US Rowing Championship Membership option; what does this include?
The Championship Membership is $45/yr. and allows rowers to compete in US Rowing Hosted AND Sanctioned regattas! Insurance coverage includes general liability AND excess medical coverage when they row. A monthly newsletter and complimentary subscription to ROWING Magazine. Rowers are allowed to row as 'unaffiliated'.
